Rural construction is mostly spontaneous, giving rise to a rich diversity of built forms. Within this organic complexity, our strategy is not to assert ourselves through contrast, but to inhabit the context with quiet modesty. "We hope this house will help the children remember where their hometown is." This heartfelt wish shared by our client Ms. Zhang. Having left their hometown for Guangzhou at a young age, her family rarely returns. This renovation of their ancestral home aims to improve living comfort and create better conditions for family reunions—offering the next generation a tangible connection to their roots. Since the house is not for daily use, the design also prioritizes low maintenance and cost control.

At present, future education and future primary and secondary schools have become hot topics in the field of education and architecture. A number of phased achievements have been produced. The new teaching results make new requirements for the teaching space. Taking the typical STEAM education as an example, the new teaching features are mainly interdisciplinary, collaborative, interesting, experiential, and situational. These characteristics require the teaching space to be open, flexible, diverse, and situational, so as to meet the needs of teaching. The Heyuan Museum of Popular Science Education for K-12s is an experimental case of the team in this field.

BACKGROUND
Zijin County is located in the middle east of Guangdong Province, southeast of Heyuan City, and the east bank of the middle reaches of the Dongjiang River. More than 80% of the county is mountainous and hilly, known as eight mountains, one river, and one field. Feng'an Town is located 56 kilometers southwest of Zijin County, which is known as Dreamlike Feng'an and looks like Lijiang River, featuring the phenomenon of ten miles of different styles and hundred miles of different customs. Huilong Village, which is located in a low-mountain and hilly environment, is one of the most remote villages in Feng'an Town, Zijin County, with a pleasant climate and beautiful mountains and clear waters. The texture of the village is both sparse and dense, and the buildings follow the road as they please, dotted among the green hills and green forests.

Fachang Village, Heyuan
The Dongjiang River flows through Heyuan city from north to south, and the Xinfeng River circles the city from west to east. The two rivers meet in the east of Heyuan city, making the whole city surrounded by water on three sides, hence the name Heyuan. This is a hakka area in Guangdong. Located in the northeast of Zijin County, Heyuan, Fachang village is probably best known for the brief stay of Sun yat-sen’s people in the early years. For this reason, Zhongshan memorial primary school was built, which is one of the few public buildings in the village (another is the ancestral hall). Most of the village’s young people are now migrant workers in the city, leaving behind mostly the elderly and children who have become the main users of the new community center.

The special education, on the one hand, the school implements the teaching mode of combining “medicine and teaching”, at the same time, the design requirements of the relevant codes are more detailed and strict, which has a great impact on the design; on the other hand, due to the particularity of the educated groups, this kind of schools pays special attention to the work of management, which means safety by strengthening management. However, whether the students really need and like the homogeneous campus space, the fixed learning behavior and the learning place is a question needed to study.

When people in towns yearn for livings in big cities like a flying kite, the "self" is the string of the kite connected to the ground. It refers to the long long years of school, of which shapes you no matter where you are. In a fast-paced society, under the doing of prototype trimming and modelarization in architecture, schools are similar to each other. Four people in a dormitory and forty-five people in a classroom, school life remains unchanged like these rules of standard. As we walk into a Starbucks in a completely unfamiliar city, we blurt out a cup of mocha frappuccino without checking the menu. Similarly, wenever have too many memories more than the neat white teaching buildings, the barren football field, for the second "home" before adult. The school lost its locality as a field.
