It enters with the Academic Hall into a compositional dialogue—one square, one circular. Above, the 108-meter tower and the 80-meter Academic Exchange Center echo each other at the southeastern tip. It is adjacent to the Fengshou Lake Cultural and Ecological Corridor and the green belt of the Computing Power Town. The project consists of twin towers, with heights of 120 meters and 100 meters. After careful investigation, SpActrum concluded that while the original site strategy had failed in form and material, the trees that grew alongside the buildings over twenty years stood out as an effective natural strategy. The first task was to persuade the client to abandon a "radically refreshed" look, instead rebuilding cabins and walkways with contemporary techniques – a return to a "non-referential" state.

This week's news landscape brought together diverse approaches to built and cultural heritage, ranging from the design of a Museum of Jesus' Baptism at a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Jordan to major transformations of modern industrial sites and the development of major cultural districts. The World Monuments Fund's support for 21 locally led heritage projects foregrounds conservation strategies that reinforce the role of architecture in safeguarding both material and intangible heritage. Across this week's highlighted projects, adaptive reuse, landscape integration, and the reconfiguration of civic space emerge as recurrent strategies for extending the life and relevance of existing built environments. The projects also reflect broader contemporary concerns, including material research in timber construction, zero-waste urban installations, large-scale residential efficiency, and infrastructure upgrades linked to global events like the Olympic Games. Framing these developments within a wider territorial perspective, discussions on relocating capital cities worldwide offer an example of how geopolitical discourses continue to shape architecture, revealing the evolving relationship between the built environment and structures of power over time.

This community art museum is a transformative renovation based on an unfinished project, originally consisting of a completed underground parking garage and a planned three-story above-ground structure. To meet the museum's functional requirements, part of the underground space was converted into exhibition halls and seamlessly connected to the levels above. This project represents an "inside-out" creation: the evolution of internal needs reshaped the original structure and facade, allowing it to metamorphose into an entirely new entity while strictly adhering to the planning prototype of "a cube truncated by a right cylinder" and the constraints of the existing subterranean structure.

Established in 2018, the Westlake University is a research university dedicated to fundamental scientific research and cutting-edge technological innovation in China. Located in the west of Hangzhou, the campus houses state of the art academic facilities, laboratories, offices, sports facilities, canteens, and housing for an international body of students and faculty. The design for the Westlake campus addresses a range of scales and needs, from its urban- scale master plan to individual buildings. The site is defined as a series of concentric rings that organize the campus both physically and conceptually: the Academic Core, the Water Loop, and the Living Loop.
