Foulden Road is a calm retreat in the heart of Hackney, London. Following the global pandemic, Magri Williams were appointed as architect and interior designer to produce a full width rear extension and whole house refurbishment. The project creates an open-plan living space for a family to come together. In a world recovering from Covid, the clients sought an extension that felt restorative, and the proposal looked towards nature to achieve this.

98–100 De Beauvoir Road continues the practice’s work in the adaptive reuse of existing and historic structures such as Talkback, E.W. Pugin’s St. Monica’s, Hoxton, and the more recent schemes De Beauvoir Block, Laszlo and the Poppy Factory. 98–100 forms part of a range of early twentieth-century industrial buildings immediately west of De Beauvoir Square, and its listed Neo-Jacobean houses, in De Beauvoir Town, an area of London planned after the Grand Union Canal and Kingsland Basin were cut in the 1820s.

Sited atop a steep hill in Hackney, East London, this remodelling of a Victorian terrace house creates a light and airy contemporary family home rich in character. The house's location has been maximised with a rooftop extension that lets in abundant sunlight and opens up views across London.
