Henning Larsen has been selected to design Gothenburg's new Centralbadet, a public swimming and sports facility intended to strengthen the city's network of community and health-oriented spaces. The winning team includes Winell & Jern Architects, Ramboll, and John Dohlsten, Sports Science Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg. Organized by the City of Gothenburg, the competition included teams such as BIG and Wingårdh Arkitektkontor. The new center is planned as a multifunctional public facility that supports both everyday recreation and organized sport for residents of all ages.

Villa Näset marks the studio's first commission. The clients, who grew up in the area just outside of Gothenburg, saw an opportunity to return and settle here when one of the last undeveloped plots in the neighbourhood came out for sale. The plot is characterized by dramatic height differences of up to 10 meters and an unusual shape – a result of being a kind of leftover "in-between-space" in the neighbourhood.

Frihamnskyrkan - The new church building in the redeveloped docklands, for Gothenburg's multicultural Pentecostal parish, is a large mixed-use facility. The building embodies an extensive program consisting of three sacral spaces alongside spaces for children, education, music studios, café, sports hall, a parish kitchen for culinary exchange, and not the least a charity grocery hand-out.

We have had the honor and trust of designing the new Lundby School on Hisingen for the City of Gothenburg. The school was completed and ready for occupancy in 2024 and is designed for 630 students in grades 7-9, as well as students with intellectual disabilities in compulsory school.

Garden guesthouse / KFA arkitekter

The house is a 30-square meter guesthouse located outside Gothenburg, Sweden. It is a typology called Attefallshus which is a small detached building that can be built on residential property without a full building permit, often used as a guest house, home office or rental unit.

The design of Merkurhuset was largely influenced by the conditions of the zoning plan, as well as the irregular shape and limited area of the plot. As a result of the maximum allowed building height, the outer wall of the top floor was angled, resembling a studio window. By allowing the intermediate pillars to rise through the glass, the building obtained its signature look.

Henning Larsen revealed the design for World of Volvo, an experience centre for the Swedish car manufacturer that highlights the Scandinavian landscape and architectural traditions. Currently under construction, the project features a circular timber structure that takes on a modern approach to traditional construction material, while expressing openness and an intimate relationship with the landscape. The venue is set for completion in late 2023 and will open to visitors in 2024.

Snøhetta and White Arkitekter Transform an Old Quarry in Sweden into a Sustainable Residential Development

Construction broke ground on the Wendelstrand residential development that will transform an old quarry outside Gothenburg into an environmentally friendly and socially sustainable neighbourhood. Developed by Next Step Group and designed by Snøhetta and White Arkitekter, together with Tham & Videgård, Andreas Martin-Löf Architects and Liljewall, the project will feature 1000 homes of various typologies and a series of amenities. The first stage of the development debuts with the Snøhetta-designed Lakehouse, a communal building that blends with the landscape.

Through its height, the Selma Cultural Centre creates a landmark point facing the neighborhood’s bustling southern streets. Here, all activities are united by one common entrance. Surrounded by an urban landscape, the building displays a unique expression that stands apart from the area's residential and commercial spaces. A uniform drape of corrugated concrete is intersected with gently sweeping openings that speak to the building’s range of cultural activities. The building can be considered as a stage where a rich range of cultural activities take place.
