The overall architectural concept of the project was defined by the inherent conditions of the site. Upon arriving at the plot, a series of characteristics became evident, distinguishing it as a particularly singular location. The site is flat and rectangular, measuring approximately 30 meters in width and 170 meters in depth, with a predominant east–west orientation. It features dense vegetation along its northern and southern boundaries, while to the east—where access from the street is located—and to the west—open toward the condominium's polo field—there is complete visual transparency.

The land has a steep slope facing north which is accessed from its south side. A semi-buried volume is proposed in the hillside, which is buried against the hill to the South to allow access from the street through the roof and is detached from the ground to the North to seek the best views towards the valley and the Golf course.

Text by Martín Rojas. Located in a residential neighborhood in the northern part of Santiago, the Orqe House is the result of an exhaustive exercise of purification of the traditional canons of residential architecture. A continuous skin that brings together the formal attributes of the abstraction of a traditional roof, envelops an interior that appears familiar.

In the year 2013, being a couple without children yet, “R” and “M” bought this site in “Las Brisas de Chicureo”, with the scope of building something in the future. Ten years later, now with three children in the family, they made the decision of building their house. Considering the brief of the project, a fast and efficient construction in metallic structure was chosen. The design is based on two overlapped bars, where the public and private areas are separated in different stories. In the intersection of this volumes, as the core of the house, a double height access was design including the main stair, which was made as a sculpture in a single sheet of folded steel saving installation time and costs. This project has strategic concrete walls that reduce the support points of the structure (pilars), generating a more fluid space in the first story. This concept is a response to the modern requirements of spacious and integrated common spaces.
