The cafe called Prompt is a cafe with a small nature in the city center. To contain the outside nature, we had to blend well with the inner space and intended to create a space that would be comfortable and relaxing. Therefore, when designing the space layout, the table and furniture were arranged so that the gaze could be directed outward.

An alley in Uncheon-dong, Cheongju, filled with quiet small houses - Children gathered at the playground in every alley. It was a place to talk, run around with friends, and do what you wanted. All the scenery we could see looked around. It was a free and dynamic space, but we felt completely at ease when we remembered that time. When I first met the client and entered the space, there was an unknown partition installed that made it impossible to guess whether it was a dining hall in the past. The traces surrounded by mold gave the impression that it had been there for many years.

The house is located on the outskirts of Sejong City, the new planned administrative capital of South Korea. The clients were avid gardeners and amateur arborists who wanted to maximize the inside/outside connections of the house. But having lived in high-rise apartment complexes most of their lives, they were highly concerned with maintaining privacy from the street and its neighbors. Therefore it was important for the house to open up to the landscape of the garden and the majestic Gyeryong mountain ranges beyond, while still shrouding the house from public view.
