Glass Star, located in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan, is an eyewear store that has remained in the same place for many years. With a diverse customer base, it offers a wide range of brands, from those favored by young customers to children's and sports eyewear. As a result, it is a welcoming space where people of all ages can visit, connect, and shop comfortably. Our journey began with a question: how can we effectively express the 'diversity' that defines Glass Star? Eyeglasses are a familiar object, yet when you think about them more deeply, they reveal something fascinating. Wiping a pair of glasses clears a blurry view, gradually brightening one's vision, as if unveiling an entirely new world within the frame.

Movement-in-stillness - The name "Suum Urban" has been made by the client couple since their conception of this project. It meant the urban version of the cafe "Suum" operated by their parents in front of a water reserve just outside Cheonan. For the first client meeting, we visited the parents' cafe, "Suum," which is located in nature with a view of the surrounding mountains and water. Our project site, in contrast, is located in the middle of the city in front of a wide road with heavy traffic. There was little foot traffic, however, and small-scale houses and shops mixed, thus giving off a sense of being marginalized. We respected the client couple's courage to open a bakery cafe there.

La-cubo is the only commercial facility located on the Lake Park site at the center of the complex. Against the backdrop of a lake and an outdoor stage, La-cubo faces a waterpark, the Cheonan Culture and Art Center, equipped with the most optimum location conditions in the complex. On the other hand, it will have to express its own characteristics among large-scale facilities in the complex. The word La-cubo is a compound Italian word meaning cube. It also has another meaning of ‘dicing certain materials', maybe stemming from the building's strange shape.
