The pedestrian and cyclist bridge, which is situated between the city’s historic center and town suburb ‘Zálabí’, connects cycling and pedestrian trails running along both banks of the river. Since it is located near a historic arch bridge, it is also formed by an arch structure, but it has a longer span and it has no supports in the river. The bridge structure consists of two outwardly inclined steel arches, on which a bridge deck from prestressed concrete is suspended. The rise of the arches was chosen so that in the predominant part the arches are situated above the heads of pedestrians, and thus do not obstruct their clear view of the historic city and, at the same time, it does not obscure the view of the historic bridge to people walking along the river.

With real estate prices in the Czech Republic among the highest in Europe, the local market lacks affordable housing and therefore calls for alternative development solutions that would also be able to strengthen the quality of public spaces. DADA Distrikt provides a locally unique proposition to the problem: the previous storage facility has been adapted into a mixed-use and residential complex with a variety of shared and community spaces. It’s relatively economic reconstruction was made possible through shared funding and direct sales, therefore avoiding additional investment returns to developers and fees to real estate agencies.

The architect’s urban design maximized the potential of the limited area, amplifying the plot through an irregular polygon floorplan and a geometric sculptural staircase.
Moravské Náměstí is a busy square in the centre of Brno. As it lies right on the Brno ring road (boulevard), thousands of people walk and drive through it every day. Few of them, however, realize the historical complexity of the spacious area, which used to be part of the fortification system of the city. The last chapter of its history was written last summer when the square was temporarily adjusted to suit the needs of a multigenre festival Meeting Brno. The major theme of the festival was the idea of European unity, currently greatly endangered by populism and radicalization within the society. The festival's main motto – Unity in Diversity – paraphrases the official motto of the European Union and its physical manifestation was designed by the Brno architecture studio Chybik+Kristof. The installation sought to commemorate particular historical milestones as well as demonstrate unexpected connections with an objective to induce the desire for solidarity and unity, call for tolerance and initiate a debate about contemporary socio-political issues.

Converting the building of a former garage, body shop and paint shop into a branch office of a company selling hardware and metal machining toolware falls within the projects that you simply need if you still desire to make endless search for the relationship between architecture and its surroundings, to historical and future development, and to detail. Or, the desire to search and to deliver as well, to put it more precisely.
