Ningshan LuZhai Cottages is a hotel located at the foot of a small mountain within the village settlement called Yuwan Village, Ningshan County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, China. The site is rich in natural resources, with a beautiful environment and well-preserved ecological balance, serving as a habitat for crested ibises. Situated on the terraced slopes, the outer periphery of the slope is surrounded by retaining walls made of rubble. In front of the site, there is an open view of farmland, leaving a lasting impression.

Project Background: Ankang is a prefecture-level city located in the south of Shanxi Province in the People's Republic of China, bordering Hubei province to the east, Chongqing municipality to the south, and Sichuan province to the southwest. Located in the old Ankang city, the original library was opened in 1984 and over the duration of time, the library building and its facilities have started to fall behind the fast-developing information age in terms of hardware and software, prompting a need for a comprehensive regeneration program.

Taihang Village is located in Qinba Mountains with pleasant weather and serene view. With the growth of tourism, the local government hopes to build a communal place for locals and tourists to share. The construction land is limited in the mountain area, the architect suggested to re-adapt the adjacent vernacular houses that are abandoned.
