lyf one-north Singapore is a current, vibrant, and lively co-living development in Singapore’s one-north creative and technology district. Designed as a community hub for the neighborhood, the development offers unique public and communal spaces for comfortable living, socializing, and recreation. The project houses 324 units and amenities across two 7-storey blocks linked by an inhabited bridge. The design adopts an angular geometry, framing key visual corridors from Fusionopolis towards the heritage bungalows at Nepal Hill.

Along Meyer Road, a prestigious address along Singapore’s eastern residential enclaves sits a condominium development housing 56 luxury dwelling units adjacent to a 1-hectare forested park. The 5-storey with attic development is arrayed in a contiguous ‘C’ configuration with residences looking out onto a 50m by 75m internal forested garden that spills out onto the adjacent park.

In 2012 WOHA was invited by the Taichung City Government and Feng Chia University to bring its exhibition “Breathing Architecture” to Taichung. This exhibition was part of a program initiated by the city government’s Gateway Project Masterplan which focused on the design principles of sustainability, low carbon emissions, and smart cities. The government was in the process of drafting new regulations to make Taichung a greener, more liveable city in its next phase of development. Following the exhibition, the developer Golden Jade, with Feng Chia University as an advisor, commissioned WOHA to design a green and sustainable mixed-use development in the heart of the city, the first of its kind in Taichung.

The face of the retail industry is rapidly changing, and businesses have to evolve and move away from traditional approaches. Design Orchard embodies a new concept which distances itself from outdated retail concepts and offers a new lifestyle space instead. Poised at a prominent junction of Singapore's famous Orchard Road – Asia’s most iconic shopping avenue - Design Orchard aims to nurture emerging Singaporean creative talent. Combining a retail showcase with an incubation space, the building was conceived to combine all stages of design from concept to production and from showcase to retail. With this new concept, the building stands out from the numerous shopping malls in the area and is a catalyst for change for Orchard Road.

Kampung Admiralty is Singapore’s first integrated public development that brings together a mix of public facilities and services under one roof. The traditional approach is for each government agency to carve out their own plot of land, resulting in several standalone buildings. This one-stop integrated complex, on the other hand, maximises land use, and is a prototype for meeting the needs of Singapore’s ageing population.

Huaku Sky Garden / WOHA

Huaku Sky Garden is located at the base of the foothills of the Yang Ming mountain range, in the Tianmu district of northern Taipei. Taiwan’s apartment architecture has been heavily influenced by Japanese colonial and 1980s post-modernism, resulting in heavy, solid blocks. This project breaks away from that influence and is the only high-rise residential tower in its neighbourhood.

Located in Redhill, the project is a demonstration of heartland rejuvenation and community building, through Masterplanning and the adaptive reuse of Bukit Merah Vocational Institute built in the 1970s. The property was re-purposed as the Enabling Village - an inclusive space that integrates education, work, training, retail and lifestyle, connecting people with disabilities and the society.

The project brief called for a new boutique office and the reconstruction of a pair of heritage-listed shophouses. WOHA was commissioned only after their demolition to reconstruct the shopfront (up to 7.5m depth) in accordance with Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority's conservation and planning guidelines, and to design an entirely new, contemporary rear wing.
