We have always thought about the relationships between architecture and the garden, searching for ways to enhance and extend these domains. We have also been focused on incorporating the free, undefined spatial quality of Japanese architecture into our designs by reinterpreting the idea of the eaves, canopy, and engawa (Japanese-style loggia). In this house, we are giving new thought to roofs and the spaces they create inside a natural environment.

However, overlapping two circles changes the form that has various vectors and is not centripetal. It is that it becomes the space that does not prescribe the domain as various places to stay, and it is connected to the environment gently. I expect that babies bring up sensitivity in this architecture because "Peanut" is not completed form by the same token and is a plant bearing fruit in soil.

The family is consisted of two daughters, their mother and their loving cat. Since there are only three women, we thought it would be appropriate to gently connect a boundary of the place’s environment and architecture, allowing close distance between the family members. It is to seize the environment as non-dividable, similar to creatures that generate their nest under elements that cover forest’s ground. It is like a principle that expands from a nest in a forest, to a forest , then to the earth, and ultimately to the universe.

This site is the place where the calm country landscape of the foot of a mountain spreads. This plans to build a residence of the young couple in the site of the existing building where her parents are living. The plane is planned that the building with thee functions was combined while utilizing the difference of ups and downs in the stone-piling tiered stands of existence and taking the trees of existence in parallel to a bent site boundary. The louver with the irregular angle set up to a face on the west side is functioning as the buffer to take lighting in and to connect the natural topography gently, besides, it functions to its eyes with her parent’s residence and a sign.

Towards a new model for multi-tenant buildings with an appealing philosophy
As an important building type, multi-tenant projects would seem to present somewhat obvious issues for consideration. In practice, however, most projects end up placing top priority on profit maximization and the optimization of floor area. In addition, these buildings often incorporate elements that lead to superficial architecture. Nevertheless, for this project we attempted to rethink the possibilities of a multi-tenant building that would embody an appealing contemporary philosophy while taking into account such routine considerations. This project is situated in a largely residential area that lies about 1km north of the train station, distinguished by a large number of plots of land that are exceptionally long in relation to their frontage. The site for this project, too, was anarrow, slender plot with a frontage of about 10m and a depth of 50m in relation to the road out front, surrounded onthree sides by neighbouring residences. Typically, such a site tends to lead to a situation where the tenant space facing the road out front is blessed with more favourable conditions compared to the other spaces. With this in mind, we tried to work out spatial principles that would allow us to give the inner spaces additional advantages that would equal or surpass the conditions of the front space.

Requests and Characteristics of the Site
This is an atelier for a doll artist and a residence of the couple. The request was an atelier that can be used as a gallery at the same time functioning as a doll-making studio. Additionally, it should be a space where her friends, who are often invited, can be gathered around pleasantly. In the residential environment the atelier and the house are wished to be open, while reserving some privacy from the neighborhood. When I first visited Minoh City in Osaka Prefecture, I remember the place was plenty of green. It is because the season was spring, but also the city was ordained by vegetation standard, which order more than 10% of the site to plant tall, middle and low trees in urban districts with lower than 60% of building coverage ratio.
