In its approach to visualizing education, this school fosters an ambivalence. First of all, there is the centric way of education and the concentric arrangement of the school around its pupils. The children are the focal point of the school and the building is literally constructed around them. In its architecture, it reflects the way of education whereby children and a sense of community are the main focus of the school.

The region and the history around Maarheeze are a reason for the use of material, color and texture. It is a translation of a historical rural substance into a coded message. This will be visible when intensively studying the building. In small amounts, images of “recognition” come up in our consciousness. In this way the acceptance of a relative large care housing in a small community is being simplified. The materials are distracted from the rural scenery and the process of transience. After a while they show light grey patina.
