Urban-Planning Situation - At the beginning of the 20th century, Berlin's Osthafen (East Harbour) was one of the largest industrial harbours in the city. Intended for transportation and storage of goods, a three-storey administration building with a canteen and storage buildings, and warehouses shaped the Spree embankment along Stralauer Allee between Oberbaumbrücke (Oberbaum Bridge) and Treptower Park. Today, the picture is completed by modern office and residential buildings. Media, fashion, and creative firms have discovered this exclusive area around the 'MediaSpree' for themselves. In the early 2000s, TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten set out a master plan for new construction and further development of the Osthafen area, incorporating the historical buildings.

On the corner of Karl-Marx-Strasse and Grenzallee, the Hotel Bellman Berlin-Neukoelln is a new building with a striking, golden bronze-coloured aluminium and glass façade that makes an architectural statement in the lively neighbourhood inspired by the raw energy of New York's Meatpacking District. The seven-storey perimeter block development blends homogeneously into the neighborhood thanks to its street-side, closed construction, and gives the deserted street corner a structural conclusion. The building heights, building lines, and building depths mediate between the partially Wilhelminian-style neighboring buildings. The staggered backs of the respective building corners adapt to the eaves heights typical of the area, break up the otherwise homogeneous façade grid, and become a varied design element.

Koepenicker Strasse is, in terms of architectural history, an important artery between Berlin-Mitte and Kreuzberg. Here rough-and-tumble Berlin can still be experienced today in all its richness of contrast – from turn-of-the-century industrial buildings to the practical functionality of post-war architecture. Here brickwork meets plaster, and metal meets concrete. Coe48 Berlin stands on the corner of Koepenicker Strasse and Wilhelmine-Gemberg-Weg at Koepenicker Strasse 48, directly opposite the Mediaspree business centre. With its emphatic relief and sculptural interplay of bay windows, green terraces, and large window openings the façade strikes a new note amidst the historical ensemble of buildings on this spot while continuing the diverse architectural heritage. The seven-storey building nonchalantly blends into this lively, creative neighbourhood, offering a modern place in which to live or work in the heart of the city.

The Hansaviertel in Berlin's Tiergarten district was built in the 1950s according to plans by renowned architects as an urban landscape in which solitary houses alternate embedded in green spaces. Today, the district is one of the world's largest ensemble monuments of " New Objectivity " and post-war modernism. The new residential complex "Oasis" was created in the spirit of the original design idea of the quarter and consists of a high-rise building (Tower) with an adjoining three-story apartment building as well as three urban villas (Garden Houses), which were built on a plot near the river Spree of around 5400 sqm designed by landscape architects. The urban design and the preliminary design for the residential tower originally came from Staab Architekten. TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten took over the planning in 2013.

The newly created residential ensemble on Kurfuerstenstrasse and Genthiner Strasse blends harmoniously into the lively district in the direct vicinity of City West. Concisely described in the project name as the interface between the Schoeneberg and Tiergarten districts, the building project on a plot of land measuring almost 7,200 square metres closes the existing perimeter block development and thus a gap that has existed for decades. The naturally grown city block will be redefined with the new project in the tradition of the European City. Nollendorfplatz can be reached on foot from here, and the Kurfuerstendamm shopping mile is just a short underground train ride away. A good connection also makes it easy to reach other destinations throughout Berlin.

The building project in Rosenstrasse in Bad Segeberg involves the construction of a new office building for the Bad Segeberg district administration. Due to its location in a large commercial area with a heterogeneous building structure, there are no urban edges to which the new building can relate. In the design, attention was therefore paid to the quality and scale of the building itself and the workplaces to be created. The project emerged from a Procurement Ordinance (Vergabeverordnung – VgV) won by TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten in 2018.

A new fire station has been built for the regional fire brigade on Schafweg in the Wemb district of the municipality of Weeze in North Rhine-Westphalia. The building consists of two flat structures that overlap by almost five meters. The shared grey clinker-brick façade gives the new buildings the appearance of a coherent unit. The design was awarded first prize in the architectural competition.

The Scheunenviertel, part of the Spandauer Vorstadt district in Berlin-Mitte, is a trendy neighbourhood which is popular with the international fashion industry, mobile phone, electronics and IT companies, and creative start-ups and is known for its diverse range of restaurants and cultural offerings. At Rosenthaler Strasse 43-45, directly opposite the Art Nouveau ensemble of the Hackesche Höfe, a modern, three-part, new building has been erected using reinforced-concrete construction. It has seven storeys above ground, two basement levels, and a gross floor area of 15,000 sqm. It picks up on and complements the surrounding neighbourhood's mix of residential, commercial, and office functions. The varied, detailed façades of the three buildings are a direct reference to the historical parcelling of the building site.
