In Rome's Flaminio district, STUDIOTAMAT unveils Casa Continua, a 115 sqm apartment entirely reimagined through a project that engages with the home's layered history while opening it to new ways of living. The apartment is located within a refined residential building, whose character is already evident in the rationalist language of its entrance hall. Purchased by the owner more than thirty years ago, the home had gradually fallen out of step with the person living in it. Fragmented rooms and rigid hierarchies no longer reflected a daily life shaped by movement, conviviality, and sharing, nor the increasingly central role that cooking had come to play. The intervention, therefore, began as a broader realignment: a contemporary rewriting of the interior, restoring a dialogue between the house and its inhabitant.

In the heart of Rome's Trastevere district, STUDIOTAMAT has breathed new life into a hidden Liberty-style gem tucked away in the courtyard of a late 19th-century building along Viale di Trastevere. Once the caretaker's house for the old train station—or a neighborhood doctor's office, depending on who you ask—this forgotten villino has been reimagined as a refined urban hideaway for two. Spread across three compact, layered floors occupying 80 square meters and culminating in a lush, green terrace, the project began by carefully preserving the home's most distinctive elements. Restoring the front veranda with its delicate cathedral glass in soft greens, pinks, and yellows called for a mix of craft and technical precision. The original rhythm and hues were respected, while the frame was rebuilt in steel and solar-control glass. By removing the old French door that once divided it from the house, the veranda now flows into the interior, extending the living space and bathing it in natural light that subtly shifts in tone throughout the day.

In the heart of Garbatella, STUDIOTAMAT transforms a historic neighbourhood bakery abandoned for years, postcode. in the capital’s trendy new Tre de tutto, whose name echoes the connection with the Roman tradition, with its three generous full-height custom designed arched windows, overlooks a square full of details and moldings made of modest materials, typical of the Roman Baroque — the style that embellishes the social housing typical of the area built in the 1920s. Here, under the arch adjacent to the restaurant, Nanni Moretti zipped through on a Vespa in his movie “Caro Diario” (“Dear Diary”). At the entrance, another tribute to the neighbourhood: “How beautiful Garbatella is!” reads a neon sign, inviting visitors and locals to enter.
