Local materials, textures, senses and nature merge together in 2 main patios to become the core of this project. The main objective of Aldea Ka’a is to create a solution for the current situation in Tulum: the city has become more popular over the years and the vacation housing demand has increased. Nowadays, the developers are more focused on vacation rental houses and have left locals aside. After we identified the necessity of residential housing, we designed a project to meet the needs of the locals with an architectural design equal to any other complex aimed for tourists.

This residence located in Tulum, aims to function as a retreat for a couple looking to get out of the daily bustle of the city and live in the Mexican Caribbean, enjoying the nature that floods the landscape of Tulum. The guiding axis of the design revolves around the customers' passion, the experience that results from cooking, living and sharing with family and friends. The placement of the house is on the east side of the plot, taking advantage of the green buffer area that it has in the west, creating the feeling of greater openness of the natural areas, which are directly related to the interior spaces of the house, this being one of the main intentions of the project.

Tulum is known for being a place in the Mexican Caribbean recurrently visited by New Yorkers, among other city dwellers from around the world. It is the antithesis of urban life. Whether at the beach area or the city area, a clearly marked division in Tulum, in either case, visitors have the opportunity to enrich a rural experience of nature, peace and simplicity.
