Located at the intersection of a lively commercial street and a modest residential alley in Seoul's Gangnam district, the site presented a dual character—active and visible yet bound by zoning regulations that restrict the building height to four stories with less FAR than typical commercial areas. This posed a design challenge: how to create a commercial presence that stands out without exceeding the area's formal constraints.

A Contemporary Interpretation of Tradition in Wonso-dong – Located in Seoul's historic Wonso-dong, an architect's studio seamlessly blends tradition with modernity. Wonso-dong, near Changdeokgung Palace's Secret Garden, was historically home to Chosun officials and features a mix of hanok and Western-style buildings. The studio is situated at this transition point, requiring a sensitive design that respects the area's heritage while embracing contemporary architecture.

Located in an alley northeast of Hakdong Station, this project aims to maximize visibility, optimize space utilization, and enhance convenience. The building features parking entrances on both sides, allowing for the maximum width of the first-floor retail space facing the main southern road. By positioning the structure close to the southern boundary, it extends forward beyond its neighboring buildings, increasing its visibility from the main east-west direction.
