The new Center for Innovation and Active Citizenship at the Frederick Gunn School unites a range of learning environments together in one integrated building. The school was founded in 1850 by Frederick William Gunn, who was an educator, abolitionist, and advocate for the outdoors, and responsible for innovations in curriculum and student development. The new building honors his vision, replaces an outdated brutalist science building, and brings a contemporary expression to campus while maintaining the scale and integrity of its surrounding context.

Anchoring the second phase of implementation of the Lawrenceville School master plan, the Tsai Field House repositions student life for the school by bringing together recreation, wellness, athletics, and dining into one interconnected environment. Sasaki has just recently completed Phase I, which encompasses the new dining room, pool, ice rink, and fitness center, along with the back of house and locker rooms associated with these programs. Phase II will include the lobby and the basketball courts, two multipurpose rooms, and all the renovations to the existing historic Fieldhouse, to be completed in 2024.

Boston College needed an updated facility to support the men's and women's basketball programs and provide program elements for player recruitment and development. This creative addition and renovation of the Conte Forum arena provided all of the key program elements for much less cost and resources than building an entirely new facility while allowing the teams to continue practicing and training in the same facility where they compete. The improvement upgraded one of the prime entrances to the arena and only required a small sliver of additional land, which is barely perceivable as an encroachment on the improved plaza.

Sasaki was tasked with creating a vibrant center for innovation that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-disciplinary thinking among the students, local industry, and fellow regional institutions. To achieve this, the team designed a social armature of open terraces, multi-level atriums, and collaboration zones that serve as the program’s focal point, encouraging visitors to circulate the building in different ways. Located in the heart of campus across from the new Student Life, Recreation, & Wellness Center, the Engineering Innovation Center at the Universidad de Lima introduces a new network of engineering hubs that are closely aligned with the emerging industries of Peru. Woven across the 5-story complex is a series of collaboration spaces, classrooms, and an entrepreneurship center that features pitch spaces, both graduate and undergraduate workshops, a multi-use auditorium, and flexible working areas for companies in residence.

Between 1880 and the early 1950s, the Bonnet Springs Park site was home to the Lakeland Railyard, which served as a major hub for the movement of freight up and down the east coast. In 1952 the railyard closed, leaving the land in an abandoned state and Lake Bonnet all but forgotten. In 2017 the Bonnet Springs Park board hired Sasaki to create a master plan for the park. Sasaki took input from the public during a six-month outreach period and incorporated ideas and desires into an approved design and park mission: to become an ecological jewel, a cultural magnet, and a connected community asset.

In 2016, Sasaki began working with Lehigh University to transform the student residential experience on campus. After identifying a long-term strategy for renovating existing housing, taking outdated buildings offline, and adding capacity to support the school’s growth, the school, and the design team identified what was missing on campus: hangout and group study spaces and a “bridge” typology that offers more privacy than a traditional dormitory but more community than apartment-style housing.

Situated between two neighborhoods, 212 Stuart Street negotiates the intimate residential scale of historic Bay Village and the high-rise scale of Boston’s High Spine. Moving away from the more traditional all-glass high rises in the city, the team sought to bring quality and depth to the urban façade. Employing an innovative approach to materials and construction, the building’s distinctive façade consists of fluted piers that vary in scale across the envelope and resonate with the masonry detailing of the historic neighborhood.

Xuhui Runway Park is an innovative urban revitalization project that traces the history of the urban development of Shanghai. Formerly a runway for Longhua Airport, the park's design scheme mimics the motion of a runway, creating diverse linear spaces for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians by organizing the park and the street into one integrated runway system. While all the spaces are linear in shape, diverse spatial experiences are created by applying different materials, scales, topography, and programs. In this way, the park serves as a runway of modern life, providing a space for recreation and respite from the surrounding city.

Sasaki initially worked with the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico to investigate how to transform the original 1969 library building into a more relevant and collaborative academic hub. During the course of this study it was discovered that the building was in need of a significant seismic upgrade that would be both cost prohibitive and severely limit the flexibility of the building. The university then asked Sasaki to collaborate with them to design a building that will become the leading academic library in Mexico.

Strategically located at the core of the campus, Salisbury University's new Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons significantly transforms how teaching and learning occur on campus. The new building allows the university to bring all of their academic support programs together in combination with a state-of-the-art library, classrooms, cafe, 400-seat assembly space, and the Nabb Research Center—a special collections library dedicated to the history and culture of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Common ground for all of the university's academic disciplines, the Academic Commons fully supports all modes of study and learning, from individual contemplative study to collaborative, technology-rich group engagement.

The Clemson University Core Campus Dining Facility is a 81,000 square foot, 1,200 seat modern food service facility that offers freshly prepared daily meals via a variety of open cooking venues and houses five different late night retail venues and a small P.O.D. convenience store. As part of Clemson's redevelopment of its "Core Campus" construction of this dining facility proceeded in tandem with new student housing construction, designed by VMDO Architects. These projects as a whole address the growing demand for contemporary housing and dining options in support of the university's goals of retaining more sophomore students on campus, and maintaining its position in the top 20 national public universities.
