They have built a network of nine environmental classrooms in various countries: Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, etc. To carry out these small-format educational buildings, they seek allies in the regions: municipalities, public educational institutions, private companies, communities, and teams of local architects. After a participatory design process, they carry out the construction phase as an educational event with architecture and construction students and various participants guided by an international team of teachers who travel to the site; finally, they accompany and advise future academic activities.

The challenge in this project was to design a compact and affordable country house with local technology and connected to the surrounding mountainous and tropical context. First, we defined the position of the house following strict setbacks regulation and taking advantage of a previously made earthwork. We located the built volume on a narrow strip of land surrounded by native forests and on the existing flat terrace. In this way, the social area faces the distant landscape to the north, and the house does not cast shadows on the pool at any time.

This hotel is built in one of the blocks of the orthogonal urban fabric of the traditional neighbourhood, El Poblado, in Medellín. The new construction completes the block and pierces it, creating a pedestrian crossing, an internal park and new semi-public spaces: a passage, stairs, a courtyard, a podium, platforms, terraces and a covered square. The building itself is an urban crossing with a permeable configuration. It has several accesses and is surrounded by native vegetation. This building is designed so that the daily life of the city coexists with the activities of the hotel and its users. It has been conceived as an epicentre, a centre of diverse cultural events that seek to promote local creative industries through art, gastronomic events, fairs, concerts, theatre, nightlife and various types of recreation. The life of the hotel and the city are to be mixed and to complement each other.

The site was transformed and flattened previous to the start of the design. Therefore, the goal was to occupy the empty space left from the earth works with the house while it shaped a flat patio with the existing slopes and benefitted from the best distant views.
In an arid landscape and an almost flat land of the municipality of San Juan de Urabá, this school was built replacing previous buildings in very poor condition.
