The house at Anglesea has been rebuilt with integrity, keeping the soul of its mid-century origins intact. A three-bedroom, two-bathroom alterations and additions project, the original home was charming but impractical. With poor insulation and awkward add-ons, the best option was to sensitively rebuild, replacing sections with better quality.

Positioned on a corner site in Collingwood, this medium-density commercial building celebrates the mature gumtrees at the rear. Our aim was to connect the project to its green surroundings. While simple in concept, the execution was deeply considered. The focal point is the borrowed landscape.

Thirteenth Beach House / MGAO

This project is a private residence located in the links Golfcourse development in Thirteenth Beach, a small coastal town located along the Victorian Coastline. Being located in a fairly ‘residential’ housing development, we responded to the client's brief by creating an inward-focused, Courtyard house. Providing the residents with a sense of seclusion within a rapidly developing housing estate.

Woollahra House / MGAO

This project is a residential dwelling, located in a small pocket of the leafy Sydney suburb of Woollahra. The project involves the alteration and addition of an existing, heritage-listed terrace. The existing dwelling forms part of a row of single-story terraces houses, all of which share their rear boundary with a public park.

Wye River House / MGAO

This project is a private residence located in Wye River, a small coastal town located along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The project was one of three Probono projects undertaken by MGAO after the 2015 Bushfires. Our clients have a long historical connection to the Wye River, with a family connection to a man named Paddy Harrington, one of the original builders who constructed many of the town's early Fibro Beach Shacks.

Northcote House / MGAO

This project is an addition to an existing Weatherboard 'Shop Front House' located in Northcote, a suburb of Inner City Melbourne. Over the years the original building, once used as a Corner Store, accrued many poorly thought additions, the brief was to demolish all previous additions and replace them with a new, functional addition, containing Kitchen / Dining room and Bathroom.

Wye River House / MGAO

On Christmas day 2015, an out of control bush fire swept through Wye River, a small township located along the Great Ocean Road. 116 homes were lost in the fire. This project replaces one of these homes. The site is located on a steeply sloping block, obliquely facing Bass Straight. Perched high on the hill side, the house sits where the tree canopy once stood, anxiously awaiting the regrowth of the surrounding bushland.
