Near an old pond built to hydrate pack animals on an ancient forest trail once used for transporting coffee sacks, a small plateau now hosts a new construction: a cabin for temporary stays, designed for the rural lifestyle of a small family. Inspired by the ideas in Henry David Thoreau's Walden, where the author builds a cabin as a practical manifestation of self-reliance and reflection on the habitable world, the project sought a design that would guarantee thermal comfort, simple technologies, and execution by local workers.

Located in the historic neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro, this sewing studio occupies a platform surrounded by a stone retaining wall, built over 200 years ago, according to local reports. This pre-existing structure establishes the architectural concept, serving both as a physical boundary and structural support for the new intervention.
