The Passerelle des Arts designed by Marc Mimram Architecture Ingénierie and Fabeck Architectes, stands out as a singular project due to its innovative use of materials, thoughtful integration with its environment, and commitment to sustainability. This footbridge, which spans a precious forest, serves as a connection between a rapidly developing district and the Modern Art Museum of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Its design is not only a response to functional needs but also reflects a deep respect for the surrounding landscape. The bridge is positioned so as to protect all the existing trees, as if to demonstrate care for its setting and a highly respectful attitude towards what was already there.

Between the two stations of Pleyel and Saint-Denis Stade de France, the Franchissement Urbain Pleyel provides an opportunity to create a public space at the heart of the city that, beyond its functional link, becomes a place of habitation, transit, but also a place of relaxation, residence, development of urban pleasures, and attention to the magnificent panorama that the railway river opens up to the horizon. The aim was to transform this functional link into a true place, an urban space that is appropriable, livable, and generous, making the most of the site's unique conditions without denying them, to create urban components, places of enjoyment that establish the bridge as a real piece of city infrastructure, a new focal point for the Landy Pleyel neighborhood.

The UCPA Sports Station Grand Reims is part of the urban development of the reconquest of the railway banks. The new equipment had to be open to the city while preserving the privacy of water sports. We wanted to give a generous reading of the sports complex, open, visible, and welcoming. We designed the building on a technical basis to preserve the privacy of the swimmers while opening urban perspectives from the indoor pool.

This new sports and cultural facility announces the entrance to the city from the East. To inscribe the geometry of the room, detached from the ground and thus signal the new equipment on a distant scale, we have created a base from which emerges the recognizable geometry of the theater. A vast inverted dome with vibrant and continuous materiality.

The building thus becomes a bridge-building resting on either side of the tracks, which are 58 meters apart, its 16,000 tons being suspended above the trains. The effect of this structural arrangement is liberating, making it possible to make particular use of gravitational stresses. Since the stresses are concentrated in the floors forming the bridging structure, the other parts of the building are free. This choice of structural design makes it possible to develop comfortable tertiary spaces. The different areas and spaces extending from the office areas open onto the city or are screened from it by the use of corbelling. The beams of the main bridging are concentrated in the floors with façades pierced with a pattern recalling the Vierendeel beams used. The terraces included on the suspended or supported floors are freely varied.

When the landscape designer Michel Corajoud put forward his plan for improvements to the Roland Garros site for the international tennis tournament, his intention was to open it up, creating a link with the city. This necessitated opening up an extensive public space and the construction of a new court accommodating 5,000 visitors in the adjacent garden where not long before some poorly constructed greenhouses had been added. The garden is notable not for these greenhouses, but rather for its fine botanical hothouses designed in 1898 by Jean-Camille Formigé, and which were naturally never under threat.

The teaching spaces of La Fabrique are projected into the streetscape, encouraging students to engage with the building’s context and allowing the city to permeate the ribbed veil of the façade. The transparent plinth gives the feeling that a gravitational force has pulled the building upwards leaving it to rest on stiletto heels, allowing the city in underneath.
