Nominated for European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture ― Mies van der Rohe Awards 2022. The new building defines the entrance to the RMMT complex. The building can be functionally and spatially adapted by subordinating it to two mutually disruptive activities ― the episodic filming process and the daily learning process. The discreet black aesthetics of BLACKBOX workspace, which is typical of the film industry, is also exhibited on the facade.

The landscaping principles and materials characteristic of theater architecture and the spirit of modernism have been preserved, and a new strategy of movement and its use has been created, aiming to make the square accessible and friendly to everyone.

Climate responsive geometry, structure integrated HVAC system, renewable materials, zero VOCs, and low CO2 footprint. Blends of abstract simplicity and clever details set an example for the building industry.

Saldus Music and Art School / MADE arhitekti

The building of Music and Art school comprises two schools working separately until now. The classrooms are placed on perimeter, while practicing halls and libraries in the middle of the building. Light courtyards are the result of the compact plan, providing a lot of daylight and reflected light in the middle of the school, and at the same time being the space for both schools to interact. Green colour in interior marks the Music school, while the blue is for the Art school.
