Located in the heart of a sparsely populated urban area in the town of Corbeil-Essonnes, the building, constructed in 1971, is positioned in the center of the plot. This "Pailleron-type" structure - owing to its similarities with the modularconstruction process - is composed of metal posts and beams clad in glazed facadepanels, and an exterior steel assembly supporting fixed horizontal sunshades. The straightforward geometry of a rectangular parallelepiped is determined by theprocess of construction. The regular facades are marked by a horizontal grid signalingthe three levels of the building, and a vertical grid formed by the modules of identicalwindow units. The building consists of a basement housing technical areas and a car park, a groundfloor with a public reception desk in an area of the lobby, and related functions(lunchroom, a caretaker's apartment), offices and archives, and finally another flooralso containing offices and archives.

With the creation of a new cultural center, Lemoal Lemoal has breathed new life into a former middle school in Mortagne-au-Perche, France. This center now houses a music school, an orchestra, local associations, and a sports facility. The town of Mortagne-au-Perche possesses a rich architectural heritage, which it is striving to rejuvenate through the restoration and transformation of its built environment and thereby enhance the area's attractiveness. The project for a Memory Center is part of this undertaking. The town chose the mothballed middle school to serve as a cultural center located in the heart of the village. Under the framework of this project, this 20th-century building had to be renovated and brought up to compliance standards. The main architectural intentions relied upon the conservation of the existing building, and a more thorough interior reorganization.

Special attention has been given to this small-scale building, designed to house the changing facilities and lavatories of the tennis complex, in order to ensure it harmoniously blends in with its surroundings. This is achieved through a demonstration of the contemporary relevance of half-timbering, a traditional Norman structural principle. This type of construction presents the added benefit of a sustainable reliance on local companies, materials, and skills. Here, the terracotta roof tiles were manufactured in Bavent, a town close to Cabourg.

The lot designated for the city’s social and cultural center was isolated, its location removed from the flow of the street. >From the outset, this posed a problem for the project’s visibility and access to the site. To underscore the public purpose of this facility, the architects chose to reorganize the street plan by broadly opening the site to the city, creating a link between city center and the residential district to the north. Pedestrian cross traffic is encouraged by the creation of a new public plaza.

For this studios and showroom project, the architects rehabilitated and refurbished the building to create minimalist, uniformly white interior spaces, adapted to the design firm’s uses and serving as the backdrop for the creator’s complex and colorful universe. The project is an integral part of the context of the “Fabriqué à Paris” label (Made in Paris) whose goal is to develop an “artisans’ hotel” fostering shorter and more integrated supply channels and local production.
