We remodeled an unfinished elementary school. As a microcosm of the intense residential development that is commonly occurring in county units, this school in Xinyang Huangchuan County, Henan Province, is surrounded by high-rise residential neighborhoods on an extremely compact site. Walking into it, one feels as if one has returned to the high-rise buildings of the big city, oblivious to the vast fields that lie just a kilometer or two away.

After starting FIRE, Mr. Peng, born in the 80s, decided to bring his wife and children back to his hometown to live with his parents. Therefore, the renovation of this old house in the countryside of Qidong became an urgent matter. The new Peng residence needed to accommodate the different living habits of the two generations so that the rural and urban lifestyles could be blended and distinctly separated. Qidong's rural construction regulations are strict, requiring that the renovation of the Peng’s residence is completed within the original contours (90 square meters of base area) and that the appearance should match that of the original "matchbox". The old house to be renovated was constructed in the 1980s as a standard rural building, a simple standard rural building which, due to its affordability, influenced the countryside of that era in the north and south of the Yangtze River. This is a challenging design, neither the city people's attachment to elegance, nor the rural people's modern improvement, but the need to complete a comfortable daily space for three generations of urban and rural people within a framework full of limitations.

Preschool teacher college is a vocational school for training preschool teachers. It emphasizes equally theoretical teaching and practical training and trains technical application-oriented talents for society. Under the background of the national development of higher vocational education, the design attempts to explore the new possibilities of the design for vocational colleges in the aspects of planning and organization, education mode, and space construction. The preschool teacher college is located on the seaside mountain. Due to the particularity of early childhood education, it is also a school with the majority of girls. Almost all students will work in the local area after graduation, and before they enter school, "women are secondary" is a consensus instilled in them by the entire local society. We attach great importance to the value of this college to the whole area.FOREST, FREEDOM, and FEMINIE is our design concept, which takes low-impact development, free space lines, and women's value as the three entry points, taking greater advantage of the fiscal budget for the good of students and the community. The theme of the design is “daughter of the sea”， which is committed to presenting a utopian campus like a “giant kindergarten”, providing a natural, free and independent space environment so that students can freely spend their youth, learn skills and realize their values here, and spread this concept to local children through education.

L&M new office is located on the top floor of an building with terraces of wide view and total vitality for low-rise Yuyuan Road and Xinhua Road Historic Blocks nearby. The top plane rotates 45 degrees relative to the middle plane to cut out four-sided terraces, while bringing multi-triangle, multi-pipe well and multi-inclined beam in the office. We still accept the challenge of triangle for the heartbeat at first sight.

L&M DESIGN LAB recently completed the renovation of its office in Shanghai. After one month, a ground-floor flat in 90s residential neighborhood was transformed to a modern and contemporary office. The “time tunnel” brings both lightness and vitality into the once dark, narrow flat, invoking a feeling of dream and fantasy.
