The development for the Shivpad Engineering Unit, which manufactures varied water treatment equipment, was planned across 2 acres of land. The site for the Shivpad Engineering at Vallam has two access points, which are from the southeast and southwest corners abutting the main Sipcot road. The production space, which is a metal PEB structure, forms the central part of the development, flanked by the Admin building to its south and the ancillary building to its west.

The Anjuman-E-Himayat-E-Islam Trust in Thiagaraya Nagar, Chennai, is over a hundred and thirty years old – a Trust that provides care and education for orphan children and children from a poor economic background. The project was envisaged for orphan boys between grades 6 to 12 and is located on a designated site within a 10-acre campus that houses a mosque, multiple educational institutions, vocational training centres, and accommodation for underprivileged children. The project was funded by a group of benefactors associated with the Trust and was constructed on a tight and economical budget.

The administrative office for the Metallic Bellows factory is located on a site of around 16,000 sqm at Vallam, Sriperumbudur. The proposed office is built to the north of the existing manufacturing factory facing the road. The single-story brick-covered structure has glazed office rooms adjacent to gardens with wide brick paved walkways connecting the various spaces.

Learning Center at Quest / KSM Architecture

The learning center at Quest is located on a 540 sqm piece of land, about 300 m from the seafront in Besant Nagar, Chennai. It is a learning center for children ages 8 to 16 years old. The center acts as a learning and interaction space for largely home-schooled children or those with the ‘unschooling’ pattern of education, which involves teaching children based on their interests rather than a set curriculum.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir School is a CBSE school building in Periamet,Chennai. The school is designed for about 2400 children. The efficiencies of designing and constructing a building had to be balanced with what we believed in: creating a warm, playful and welcoming environment for these young children that would be filled with natural light and ventilation. The key objective of the project is to provide the children with a suitable environment to learn and explore.

Learning is a process that involves more than just books and a teacher in a classroom. It needs to be centered around the student and it is imperative that the building itself lends an environment that is suitable for learning. This was the underlying principle behind the design of this school and the family-run management of the School firmly believed in it. A school based on the International Baccalaureate curriculum Akshar Arbol, located off the East coast road at Injambakkam, has been designed as a set of interactive learning spaces that connect the different age groups of children in a naturally lit and ventilated building envelope.

An east facing plot of 380 sq.m with an existing 35 year old temple and four trees was chosen. Sripuram Colony, 1st Street is quite typically an Indian street with a mixed land use.
