For many years, the owners had been troubled by the heat caused by the afternoon sun in their existing home. With no obstructions along the front road and compounded by the basin climate, heat would build up inside during the summer.

Two Large Roofs Leaning Together / KOMINORU Design

This house is for two families, parents and children, and is located on a relatively spacious site in a densely populated residential area near the station. The low eaves give the house a two-story structure resembling a single-story building.

Small House on a Corner Lot / KOMINORU Design

It is a three-story wooden house built on a limited plot of land of only 9 tsubo (approx. 30 sq. m). As it is on a corner lot, if the fire resistance performance is met, the building coverage ratio can be 80%, and we were able to secure more floor space than we expected.

House Along the Old Road / KOMINORU Design

This is a housing project along the old Tokaido road. Tokaido Road is one of the most important Five Routes connecting Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto and Osaka, of the Edo period in Japan. Old townscapes remain along this historical road. The exterior continues with the old Tokaido's wood-covered texture. There is a lot of traffic on the Tokaido side, but rather than blocking the outside world, the wooden panels at different angles are intended to reflect and drown out outside sounds. The orientation of the panels was arranged using a parametric design, and the angles were adjusted so that they changed little by little. Each panel was adjusted so that a large flow would be created when the entire panel was put together.

A house located on a hill overlooking the Tanzawa Mountains. Inspired by the work of the owner, a woodworking artist, the volume is like a carved piece of wood. The unevenness pierced from the volume becomes an opening for high side lights, balcony, etc., and guides the ever-changing light into the room.
