The Freiham district is not only Munich's newest urban expansion but also currently the largest new development area in Europe. In the long term, around 25,000 people are expected to live here on an area of 350 hectares. Because the land remains in the city's possession, it was able to grant the plots in sections to municipal developers, cooperatives, and building associations under hereditary building rights.

The Municipality of Bütschwil-Ganterschwil lies in the heart of Switzerland’s Toggenburg region. Once known for its textile industry, today its rural villages, close to Wil and St. Gallen, attract a constant stream of new residents, the youngest of whom require an increasing amount of school space. To meet this demand, an extension to Bütschwil Primary School was completed in 2021.

When the alarm sounds at Vienna’s Speising Fire Station, the firefighters have just 30 seconds to get ready and turn out. When every second counts, the primary task of the architect is to ensure optimum process efficiency and so tactical functionality. At the same time, the brief for this vital infrastructure project, a building that is staffed 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, called for a distinctive architectural design.

Located in the south of the Swiss municipality of Hausen am Albis, the village of Ebertswil sits on a gently elevated plateau with wide-open views of the canton of Zug, its lake, and the Swiss Alps. Despite the brisk pace of home building since the 1970s, the village has managed to retain its rural character with farmhouses, barns, and lots of half-timbering continuing to characterise the landscape.

The disused shelter for rescue forces at the edge of the Erlenbach school campus had disappeared under an overgrown hill and a sports field over the years. From outside, the only identifiable markings were two entries dug into the hillside. It was just waiting on a new lease on life. The lack of swim lessons for the children of the lake community and the site’s proximity to the school made it the perfect location for partial redevelopment into a pool for beginners. A selective tender was created in 2012 to find a suitable general planning team for the building project.
