Casa Flor was commissioned by a friend of the studio, Nacho Mazzini, proud owner of the "yellow house with a round window" built in 2021. Fascinated by the use of that home and attentive to the evolution of his family dynamics, he wished to add a new module on the adjoining plot next to his first iHouse, located in Punta Ballena near the Arboretum. The intention was to create an intimate and reflective pavilion—a space for contemplation—while avoiding the challenges of building a traditional house directly beside his current home.

The commission for this project came from the other side of the world. The owner, a Uruguayan based in Australia, sought to build a home for use as his temporary residence while in the country, a place to rest and host family and friends. The challenge was to design, develop, and construct this home solely through video calls. The premise was clear: a house highly connected to the outdoors, with minimal alterations to the topography and flora of the land, and fully completed by his arrival.

This project came as a particular assignment to the studio from the clients who presented us with the challenge of designing a house located in the heritage district of Carrasco in Montevideo to become their family's home as a permanent residence. Despite being dedicated to housing and prefabricated modular constructions, we are always open to new challenges, which is why this proposal that was out of the ordinary captivated us with the rigor of facing a world that we already knew but that we had not manipulated for a long time: traditional on-site construction.

MRO Shack is located on a plot on Uruguay's ocean coastline, just 800 m from the coast, in an area with abundant native vegetation and only 100km from the city of Montevideo.

Mael House is characterized by being a permanent use house. It starts with a simple volume that lays on the scenery adapting to the existing topography without generating conflict with the environment. The main idea is based on reinventing the lifestyle of a couple that were trying to radically change their way of living, merging comfort, work and nature.

The main idea begins with the client’s initiative to live immersed in the forest, always in direct contact with the surroundings. The first approach was based on mid-century houses, this was an important starting point for the main concept of the house, trying to reinterpret single-family houses.

In a void area of a consolidated neighborhood, the owners of this land, cautiously begin to form this garden isolated from the surroundings and full of vegetation, directly connected with de center of the block. Particularly, the land was full of lavender from the beginning and consequently, the main idea was to maintain the land as it was.

Located in Chihuahua in a coastal resort area noted for its rapid growth in recent years due to its close proximity to Punta del Este, but contrasted by a wild terrain facing the sea, nestled between the dunes and native vegetation is the setting where this house is established seeking to modify the existing topography to a minimum.
