Buildings are positioned to frame the sea, the skies, and the palms, turning every view into a living artwork. The guiding ethos behind the project is simple yet profound: nature is the hero.

The Corner House renovation project transforms a building over 100 years old into a mixed-use space that connects the community in this neighborhood. The Corner House, formerly known as Chai Phatthana Sin, is an old building that stands prominently on the corner of Charoen Krung Road.

The AGAL Gallery, originally a well-preserved two-story home built over 30 years ago, now stands as a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. When the designer was tasked with renovating the space to reflect AGAL's distinctive identity—an elegant fusion of Thai-Chinese design— the approach was centered on preserving the building's original structure while adding contemporary touches.

Baan Rom Taan House / IF (Integrated Field)

Recoloring the Memory – In 2018, when the renovation project of the hip-roofed house at Baan Rom Taan began, we encountered a house painted in white, having undergone several renovations. The owner of Baan Rom Taan recounted that this hip-roofed house is nearly 120 years old, having once served as the grandparents' honeymoon suite and continuously used over the years. Hence, it is a place filled with memories of several generations of the family. When tasked with renovating this house, the IF team was determined to preserve the original design as much as possible.

Design Philosophy: Playing is Healing. Key Concept: ‘Children Dimension’. A hospital is the kind of place most people would rather avoid as much as they can. We have witnessed more medical institutions’ attempt to create a more pleasant and friendlier environment, some with the architecture and interior decoration that are almost equivalent to a shopping mall or hi-end hotels. If such built environment can make the feeling of going to a hospital for us adults more tolerable somehow, what about the experience of the little ones?

KLOEM Hostel / IF (Integrated Field)

The main design approach for this project was to design this space based on as much as possible existing structure and material by focusing on “repairing” and “adding”. Firstly, the existing structure was kept as the way it is. Then, all wooden walls were removed to be repaired, polished, and repainted. Even in the details such as the window frames, they were kept the way they were, yet we’ve added the glass as a new layer to let the natural light in but still able to use air-conditioned system. The space planning was rearranged to suit with the new usage as a hostel.
