Henning Larsen's contemporary take on the Danish church opens - the first in Skanderborg in half a millennium. In an era marked by church closures and increasing secularization, the opening of a new church is a striking exception. Designed by Henning Larsen, Højvangen Church reimagines the role of the church in modern society as a space for gathering, reflection, and connection that reaches beyond religious tradition. It is the first new church built in the Skanderborg Parish in more than 500 years.

In collaboration with Politecnico di Milano, Henning Larsen unveils Growing Matter(s) at Milan Design Week (Via Bonardi 9) - a pavilion exploring bio-based materials and new design aesthetics. This interactive installation showcases the potential of mycelium as a living, evolving building material. The pavilion is composed of 80 mycelium spheres, each uniquely shaped by the material's natural growth process. Unlike traditional materials such as concrete or steel, mycelium defies uniformity. Its form is shaped by environmental conditions, resulting in textures and imperfections that challenge conventional design standards and celebrate the intelligence of living systems.

The holistic patient view, encompassing both physical and mental challenges, following the patient in a life-course perspective until adulthood, innovates how to offer healthcare services to children. Comprising eight building blocks, Glasblokkene was completed in two phases; the second phase was unveiled in December 2023. It is one of the world's first fully digital and hence resource efficient hospital construction projects. Focus on energy efficiency and sustainability right from the beginning has resulted in numerous green solutions and the best energy label in the market.

Henning Larsen’s latest, a 7,400m2 new headquarters for Copenhagen- based housing association KAB, is a building at a crossroads -literally and metaphorically. Located on the axis of two major streets in Copenhagen, between one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods and one of the city's oldest neighborhoods and one of its newest, the building bridges Danish office culture with home life.

Lush rooftop gardens and ample natural sunlight blend the boundaries between the built and organic. Here, the outside world comes in – an urban sanctuary of green wellness. At the Biotope, the natural world is rarely out of reach. The building layout prioritizes access to daylight, fresh air, and green space: Broad skylights flood atriums with sunlight, open-air balconies line lush courtyard gardens, and a terraced green roof covers the building footprint.

Nestled between the bustling city of Hangzhou and the calm shores of East Lake, the Hangzhou Yuhang Opera cuts a distinctive profile in the skyline, its landscaped peaks appearing to dip beneath the water’s glassy surface. The new building forms the heart of a new cultural node in Yuhang, a fast-growing dis- trict in the metropolis of Hangzhou. Completed in May 2019 in collaboration with Hangzhou Architectural & Civil Engineering Design Insti- tute Co., Buro Happold Engineering, and with Bassinet Turquin Paysage and AECOM for landscape, the 70,000m2 performance venue is an unmissable presence on the otherwise uninterrupted waterfront. The new structure houses a broad range of culturally oriented spaces, including a 1400-seat multipur- pose auditorium, a 500-seat black box theatre, an exhibition center, and supporting facilities.
