Measuring just 5.6 meters wide by 20 meters long, the plot houses an architecture office and a multipurpose hall. The spatial constraints demanded not only the compression of functions but also a tight articulation between constructive and architectural solutions scaled to the intervention. The building, with its discreet facade and lack of expressive gestures, clearly expresses the intention to create an austere, silent, and contemplative space using the minimum necessary elements.

Architecture Seen from Nodal Points - Upon entering the 42-meter-deep and 15-meter-wide plot, the garden unfolds at the front, while the house stands to the left, parallel to the 5-meters-setback. This first view of the house was designed as a nodal point for spatial perception. From there, the journey through the house is structured as a sequence of framed views that emphasize the space’s frontality and depth, minimizing diagonal perspectives.

At the end of 2017, the project for the preservation and adaptation of use converted the ground floor of the emblematic Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB-SP) - designed in 1946 by Rino Levi, Roberto Cerqueira César, Abelardo de Souza, Hélio Duarte, Zenon Letufo, Jacob Rucht, Galian Ciampaglia and Miguel Forte - at the Z Deli Sandwich Shop.

The Txai Housemerges elements of the vernacular colorful Bahian Houses with the precise lines of Brazilian Modern architecture. Located in front of a beautiful beach in the city of Itacaré – in the Brazilian northeast – the site of Txai Housereaches 13 meters above the sea level. This topographical condition allowed for, even with the existing treetops, a beautiful view of the coast.
