The building is a large urban pavilion located in the metropolitan park El Tunal, which contains cultural, sports and recreational uses, and mainly serves the vulnerable population in the south of the city of Bogotá. Its outstanding horizontality allows for a building front on the western side of the park and serves as a doorway between the urban context and the wide, natural space of the park. For public use, its architecture is open, diaphanous, and clear, making transparency and permeability its greatest spatial qualities.

The project is part of an addition to an existing school of fairly deteriorated condition, located in Vereda el Hobo, 40 minutes from the municipality of Carmen de Bolívar, very close to the Montes de María in northern Colombia. With an average temperature of 32 °C and relatively high humidity, a permeable architecture was sought, which allowed the constant passage of natural ventilation and the controlled entry of natural light.

Advocated by the District Department of Education and summoned by the Colombian Society of Architects in Bogotá D.C and Cundinamarca, in 2013 a public contest was realized in order to select the best proposal of design for a school in the location of Fontibón. The architecture firm FP Arquitectura won the first place in the contest with a proposal titled: A classroom a Courtyard, a School a Grand Courtyard. Finally, the school was built and inaugurated at the end of 2017, and selected by Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo- BID, as one of the most innovative schools in Latin America, due to its integration with the community and the creative design applied to a contemporary educational model.

So its construction had a great social impact on the people, becoming a landmark that transforms the environment.
