Mây – project name means cloud, which is renovated from 2 buildings of 2 different architectural styles, a street café, and a part of a wedding center of neoclassical style. Considering a limited budget and the investor’s will to keep a part of the wedding center, it was decided that the front block and the neoclassical building’s structure be left intact, and a new structure would be used to link itself with the old remains.

The 4 story house is for a family of 4, including parents and 2 grown-up sons. At the moment, those 2 sons are studying abroad and visit home occasionally, the house, therefore, is designed based on requires of the middle-aged couple, who asked for large and airy common spaces without separated walls, to easily keep an eye on each other.

The house is located in suburb of Ho Chi Minh City – the biggest city in Vietnam which has a limited land source. Designed for a family of 4, including parents and their 2 little sons, therefore spaciousness, airy feel and safety are the 3 most important criteria in the concept of the house. Intentional vivid paints provide a bright side to the kids’ life as well as a fun and happy living space for the whole family.
