Project background
As a pilot area for the network integration of rail transit, bus and slow traffic system proposed by Shenzhen Municipal Government, the "Three Pavilions and One City" area in Longgang stipulates that the major developers must plan and implement the "Tri-Network Integration" transportation system within the scope of 0.8 square kilometers through the restriction of land development conditions. FCHA collaborates with Vanke Urban Research Institute to plan, design and implement the system, a total of 9 overpasses and weatherproof corridors along the street are set up in the central urban area of Longgang, connecting subway stations, bus stations, businesses and residential areas, which has the originally isolated and closed urban functional groups connected together in a three-dimensional way, which realizes the all-weather three-dimensional and convenient traffic network.

How to integrate education and commerce, which seem to be incompatible functions in one land efficiently?
Presently, in the development of high-density coastal cities in China, excessive development of lands for commerce and office, etc, often occurs. At the same time, a shortage of land for schools and other educational facilities occurs. We try to digest the sizes of complex projects by putting schools and training in them, encourage sharing and improve efficiency by restructuring functions, aiming to make educational spaces more open and diversified.

The city of Dongguan, located between Shenzhen and Guangzhou (Canton), is the scene of breakneck development of late. FCHA was asked to develop plans for a 600 square-meter sales office in a mixed-use development in Dongguan for leading Chinese property developer Vanke. Located in an up-and-coming area of the city, the structure occupies a corner site adjacent to other properties undergoing new development. This state of flux was both an asset and a challenge for the design process.
