After several spatial configuration exercises using multiple pattern arrangements in plan and section, a project was executed that represents the synthesis of form within its site. Initially, the goal was to configure two independent housing units—one for a family of seven and another for rental purposes—designed to be unified in the future into a single three-story home. In this way, the "R2-with Bricks House," built at 2,200 meters above sea level in the city of Loja in southern Ecuador, is composed of two superimposed typologies: a courtyard-type house and a barn-type house, linked by an exterior vertical circulation.

Casa Andina GC—located southwest of the city of Loja, in an urban-rural expansion zone at 2,168 meters above sea level—houses a family of four. The project is designed around construction efficiency, the qualities of the context, and the flexibility of uses in the domestic space. To define the project, we will examine it in the following order: the commission and context, the design intentions, and the design strategies regarding the systemization of the object, phenomenological variables, and devices for flexibility.

Leaving behind the urban fervor of Quito requires a slow decantation, a change of pace where asphalt finally yields to the vegetation of the dry steppe. In the Guayllabamba valley, architecture does not seek to conquer the land but to coexist with it; the House in the Forest arises from this premise, not as an imposed structure, but as a device for inhabiting time. The project is best understood under the logic of the "nest": a structure that weaves intergenerational memories and, instead of settling heavily, decides to levitate over a landscape that it barely disturbs.

THE BUILDING AND THE CITY The urban situation of 03 – 98 building is located within 500m from the center of Loja’s city; there are landscape values and street furniture around 03 – 98, the relationship with the public space becomes continuous with the entrance plaza of the project.
