        <![CDATA[<p>The context that the houses are located in, and the nature of their relationship with the land are the most important features in determining the design process of the Golkoy Houses. To avoid intervening with the natural texture and slope of the land, the units situate themselves lightly on the convenient plots within the site. The plots aim to appear as if melting into the natural texture instead of coming to the forefront when viewed from the sea. The aim was to preserve the perception of the land, conserving the matured trees and the existing topographical features by omitting any large-scale interventions.</p>]]>

One of the important aspects of the design was to close the building volume at the sides, preventing any physical or visual relationship with neighboring sites and extending the building toward the sea as well as to the garden at the back.</p>]]>

Between 2009 -2018, EAA’s efforts for the project site were primarily guided by the intention to design a project that understands the potential of this unique ‘place’, restores the value of the factory, and gives back a considerable amount of this land to the city and use of city dwellers.</p>]]>

The acropolis presents the physical appearance of a city culture built upon a rooted civilization. In contrast, the city of Bergama today, laying below Acropolis, displays a rather rural city texture. The urban texture of a typical small town started yielding itself to apartments. Is there any possibility to consider a relationship between the Acropolis and Bergama? The question waits for the description of a place that will host Bergama’s cultural life without avoiding the memory of the place.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>There were two important inputs regarding the settlement located in Ulus, which was to be situated on a lot of approximately 80,000 square meters and would consist of 26 masses of the same size. The first of these inputs is the meaningless rigidity of building conditions that are in effect in these regions of the city. As for the second input, it emerged before us as the entity of a project that was prepared beforehand, whose intricate processes of approval were legally completed, and for which, within this context, the investor preferred to preserve the outlines. Although architectural decisions were shaped almost solely with the concern to conform to operative building conditions, the fact that the number, location, and levels of building blocks in the existing project were exactly preserved in the new design emerged as a requirement.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The Golden Horn has been <a href="/tag/istanbul">Istanbul</a>’s center and stage for centuries before it lost its glamour starting from the end of the 19th century, and gradually became drabber until the 1990s when it was rediscovered, and for the last 15 years, it has started captivating the city once again thanks to many new projects. Bilgi University offered to carry out the renovation and transformation of the Silahtarağa Power Plant into a museum and recreation and educational center; this typical modern industrial installation constructed between the 1910s and 1950s occupies a 107,000-m<sup>2</sup> lot forming a sort of peninsula between the Alibeyköy and Kağıthane creeks right where the Golden Horn ends.</p>]]>
