The aging brutalist structure stood closed off from view and separated from the surrounding urban fabric. With aging infrastructure, the building needed a comprehensive modernization to meet the escalating requirements of contemporary performance and to present a new face to the public.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The Shanghai <a href="/tag/baoshan">Baoshan</a> Long Beach Winder Tower Complex is strategically located at the Yangtze River estuary beside the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal—Asia's largest and the world's fourth-largest home port. DLR Group won an international design competition with a vision to transform the industrial port into a new waterfront landmark. The complex is 2M SF, bringing together a 180-meter observation tower, a 120-meter Grade-A office building, an 80-meter five-star hotel with 300 keys, a 1,027-seat concert hall, a tunnel operations center, and retail.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Discovery High School is a new, ground-up facility serving 600 9th through 12th grade students within the <a href="/tag/camas">Camas</a>, Washington School District. The high school thoughtfully integrates cost-effective and energy-efficient systems with an orientation along an East-West axis to reduce sun exposure and minimize heat gain within the building. The building’s design manages natural daylight with appropriately placed operable windows, continuous clerestory windows, and skylights. The high school meets the carbon goals of the AIA’s 2030 Challenge. </p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p dir="ltr">The high-tech, STEM-focused facility at the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) serves 600 Lee’s Summit R-7 School District students and 1,200 University of Central Missouri students. MIC’s 2 + 2 program, which is a collaboration between both industry and academic partners, focuses on learner outcomes in an immersive and rich, real-life workplace experience. High school graduates can simultaneously earn an associate’s degree, followed by a bachelor’s degree two years later. Students from 16 to 30 are working in a classroom and workplace towards the same degree. These benefits translate into earlier graduation, less college debt, and higher likelihood of job placement. Bachelor degree programs include, Systems Engineering Technology, Design and Drafting Technology, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>The design for Panther Lake Elementary School focuses on bringing together the school's learning and common areas in order to enrich the students' educational experiences. Long rows filled with formal learning spaces run parallel to each other, while a corridor containing the school's major common areas runs through the rows at a diagonal, bisecting and connecting the separate learning areas.  As a result, the various learning centers remain open to one another even though they appear to be separated by their different colors and structural elements.</p> ]]>

The center is home to three programs: Tuition Pre-School, Preschool for All, and Special Education.  DLR Group’s design solution resulted in a pinwheel layout, having four small houses around a central core of shared facilities, including administration, a multi-purpose gymnasium and a community/parent room.</p>]]>
