Building on the success of the second branch located in front of Jungang-dong's iconic 40 Stairs, this third location is set near Busan Station, in the heart of a district densely lined with office buildings. By day, the street is alive with the flow of commuters, but once evening falls, it becomes strikingly still. As the bustle of the day recedes and the place seems to lose its vitality, the sudden quiet leaves us with a lingering sense of emptiness. It was from the question, "Could a space hold on to its warmth even after everyone has gone?" that this project began.

We were commissioned to design a space for a renowned ring workshop brand from Seoul, located in Jeonpo-dong, a popular hotspot for young people in Busan. During our first meeting with the client, we visited the site and found it to be an intriguing space featuring an upturned roof supported by a very old wooden truss structure. We heard that prior to its use as a clothing store, the space had functioned as a café, and it had previously been utilized as a warehouse for an extended period in a tool shop alleyway in Jeonpo-dong.

Demer Coffee is a charming cafe located in front of the historic 40-Step Stairway in Jungang-dong, within the vibrant Jung-gu district of Busan, South Korea. Long ago, in the midst of the Korean War, refugees established a shantytown in this neighborhood with views overlooking Busan Port. The 40 Steps in Jungang-dong became a path rich in history and meaning. It was a daily route for the shantytown’s inhabitants as they traveled to and from the port for work, and it also served as a communal spot where they would wait and meet with others several times throughout the day.

It is located on Jeonpo Cafe Street in Busan. At the first meeting with the client, we wondered how the brand name "Or whatever" had become a name that the client had in mind, and asked about the meaning of it. The client said “Or whatever” is something that could express herself in a way that nothing is stereotyped, and it could tell a lot about her free spirit.

"hotel tt" is a boutique hotel with branches in Gupo and Seomyeon in Busan. Surveying the first and 20th floors, the design team was inspired by the spatial feeling of the first floor and the exterior scenery of the 20th floor. It could look down at the natural ecological park surrounded by the mountains and stream of the river Nakdonggang connected to the sea across Busan. The design team envisioned the entire concept in "a space where people can appreciate this region's own beauty and culture". According to the client who wanted a different atmosphere from any other franchise hotels, the design team proposed to break the hotels' general principles and create a space to contain a simple yet unique taste and focused on expressing natural elements.

Designed by studio “designby83," based in Busan, Korea, SSAP offers pastries and coffee and is located next to Ulsan's Grand Park. The client asked us for a vintage and hip space. We tried to convey a space where the history and traces of the original space can coexist. Unlike conventional vintage and hip images, we came up with our own interpretation of the space including sustainability. Despite the passage of time, we thought about the design with hopes that it would last and continue to deepen. In the process of demolishing the interior of the interior space, consisting of exposed rough concrete walls, worn-out floor tiles, cold metal windows and simple glass windows, almost all structural elements were intentionally left intact.
