It's a single-story building renovation project that located in the city park, surrounded by a large lawn, with excellent sight and a prominent position that can be easily detected. The idea of design hopes to create an open and modern reading public space, it also offers commercial services such as coffee and beverage retail, and aims to build up an attractive and multifunctional small public building. As a vibrant part of the city is created for people to relax, it makes up for the shortage of high-quality indoor space for people using the park.

SMOORE Jiangmen Industrial Park Renovation / CM Design

SMOORE Jiangmen Industrial Park is located in Jianghai District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, adjacent to Xijiang, and the Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway and Xijiang Bridge can be seen in the distance. With the L shape layout, the site covers an area of 16,429 square meters that the developer rents, which is part of the area in the factory group that connects many plants. The park consists of an administration building, two production plants, a processing plant, and a square in the middle of the park, with a total building construction area of 16300 square meters. As the development and transformation of the industrial pattern in the Greater Bay Area, Jiangmen has launched the policy of Urban Renewal to promote the transformation and upgrading of old industrial plants to attract more emerging industries into the local area.

When you come to Nantou Old Town, you will feel amazed by all the different types of buildings built in different periods, such as Dongguan Guildhall with black brick and grey tiles, Xin ‘a County Government Office with towering colored sculptures, Baode Ancestral Hall with gray carvings and colored painting, Wen Tianxiang ancestral hall with the layout of three-bay and three depth, and various exquisite fashion shops and buildings along the street which its pavements were made of slates and squared stone.

Renovation of SMOORE Liutang Industrial Park Shenzhen / CM Design

SMOORE Liutang Industrial Park locates in Xixiang Street, Baoan District, Shenzhen, at the northeast corner of the Liutang Park and adjacent to the Christian Baoan Church. The project covers an area of 5,017 square meters, and has a total floor area of 13,658 square meters, including 6,260 square meters in Building 2 and 7,398 square meters in Building 3. In the 1980-90s, a large number of small and medium-sized manufacturing plants came out in this area, which however, has been gradually surrounded by new residential communities, parks, offices, and related infrastructures due to the rapid process of urbanization. As a result, the area has changed from the outskirt of the city to the center, production workshops began to move away, and the old industrial buildings were facing urban renewal and function upgrade.

Renovation of the Plant Building of Nantou Old Town / CM Design

The Plant Building of Nantou Old Town was built in 1980s, locates in the middle of Zhongshan South Street, eastside of the pocket garden. The first floor of the building served as stores, and the second floor and above were used as residential space. The building was known as one of the most typical residential buildings in the old town. It has the masonry-concrete structure and water-washed sandstone façade, which is very common in the urban village buildings. However, with the rich plants on the terrace raised by its owner, the building also shows a unique character of “a green box inside ten thousands of buildings”. Following the 2017 UABB, a new mega renovation has been carried out in Nantou Old Town, leading by Bureau of Public Works of Shenzhen Municipality Nanshan District and Shenzhen Vanke Development Ltd. In this renovation, one of the commissions accepted by CM from Urban Research Institute of China Vanke, was to establish a new image for the plant building.

Following the completion of SMOORE Lezhujiao Industrial Park, CM Design has recently finished the SMOORE Headquarters Industrial Park in Dongcai Industrial Zone, Baoan district, Shenzhen. Including the upcoming Liutang Industrial Park, CM Design practiced a series of "Urban Edge Garden" renovations of industrial park as the main project type in the past three years. From the context of urban village to urban factory, CM Design has developed a relationship and glossary that are more suitable for urban renewal, which were all contained in the SMOORE renovation projects with varying degrees.

In the last forty years, Shenzhen has grown from a small fishing village to the capital of science and design. At the same time ,the city’s construction expanded outwards quickly. Given the emphasis of the city changing from the traditional manufacturing industry to the research and development industry, the site where was a urban fringe in the past, has shown an unprecedented vigour. The industrial factories around the site which built in the 1980s need to be recycled under the onslaught of social progress.

"10.Creative Drink"is an commercial shop renovation project after the "T.LOFT Concept Experience Museum" located in urban village at Futian District, Shenzhen , where commercial shops are faced with the need of diversified space, personalized change under multi-cultural village background. The "10.Creative Drink" is located at the crossroads of two important streets in the Xinzhou South Village, center of Futiandistrict.The rapid crowds and the L-shaped street corner business interface consists of the important factor in the regional node.The Indoor space, though less than 100 cubic meters, is designed to meet the basic business activities as well as to provide a cultural and artistic exchange platform for the surrounding people, also hope to produce a differentiated behavior symbiotic in this small scale space.
