New York-based studio Civilian has overseen the interior design for the offices of Award-winning documentary production company Sandbox Films. Located in a landmarked 1920s neo-gothic skyscraper in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, the 4,200 sq ft space features a central reception area and bar, a conference space, private and open offices, production and editing suites, a mix of carefully sourced vintage and custom-designed furniture and a state-of-the-art private screening room.

Overview. New York-based studio Civilian has acted as an architectural design consultant and overseen the interior design for Newlab at Michigan Central, housed in The Book Depository building, an Art Deco landmark designed by the Detroit-based architect Albert Kahn in 1936.

Bard College Berlin Student Residences / Civilian Projects

Bard College Berlin has collaborated with development and project management firm DBI Projects and New York-based architecture and interiors studio Civilian to develop new student residences. Informed by Berlin’s rich architectural and design history, they help foster student living and learning in the artistic, political, and economic center of Europe. The residences are scheduled to open in September 2021 at the start of the new academic year when students from all over the world will reside at Bard College Berlin.
