The heritage- protected Collège Rousseau in Geneva, built in 1969 by Alain Ritter, is a remarkable example of Brutalism. Not only did the building's condition require refurbishment, but an extension was also needed to cope with the increased of students. Burckhardt won the architectural design competition in 2018 with a proposal that emphasizes continuity and yet breaks with it: From the outside, the added story extends the existing façade with its striking relief of finished concrete components in such a way that the addition is only recognizable at second glance. Inside, however, the intervention presents itself as a light and airy wooden construction that exudes a cozy atmosphere.

Three sisters in the Mediterranean. The project enhances—aiming to exaggerate—the ‘courtyard-house’ character of a summer residence from the sixties on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. A house that three sisters in their thirties have decided to share as a summer home. This renovated holiday house is a deliberately ambiguous habitat, between inside and outside, openly diverse, as wide and sunny as intimate and shady; offering coves, topographies, loggias, and gardens, in a spatial continuum that intends to provide a landscape of vitality and delight.

The prerequisite of the client was that an in all respects sustainable building should be designed. These aspirations are particularly expressed in the façade, as the integrated photovoltaic elements generate enough electricity to cover a large part of the energy requirements. As the solar cells are almost unrecognisable the Swiss architects Burckhardt+Partner AG could reinterpret the otherwise seen as technoid expression of these elements into an item of design and architecture.

Located in the heights of Rolle, this plot is oriented toward two sides: on one side are the vineyards and on the other is Lake Geneva. The building makes use of this situation and morphologically completes the A-One Business Center's series of five volumes. Its S-shape creates two courtyards, each with a distinct character: on the vineyard side, the reception courtyard establishes a link between the offices and the workshops, while the courtyard on the lake side serves as a depot for the fieldwork and is used by the company vehicles.

The construction volume, set back from the street Worbstrasse, allows for an outdoor area with a spacious layout, which marks the entrance zone for customers and staff, in addition to enhancing the entire site.
