"A Day Like a Movie _ INFILM" - Beginning: Omnibus of Moments Like in a Movie The spatial planning of this project started with emotions evoked by the environmental characteristics of the site. Contrary to expectations of a magnificent view overlooking the Geumho River, the site was slightly recessed. However, the sight of a train passing along the river caught our eye. The scenes of trains along the river, people walking along the river, and the sunset casting a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere were profoundly serene, reminiscent of a scene from a movie. This moment was so beautiful that it sparked new inspiration.

Rounge, A Furniture brand that began with an inevitable connection to trees - Nestled on Yangjae-daero, the building stands concealed by a stretch of plane trees. Once inside, vast windows reveal sweeping views of towering plane trees, offering a shifting sequence at each level. Ascending to the rooftop of this five-story structure, plane tree leaves touch the sky and rustle in the wind. Greenery envelops the middle floors, creating an immersion in the leafy expanse. On the second floor, the sturdy tree trunk and branches, and on the first floor, the thick tree trunk and the plants in the earthy soil create shadows as they are lit by the sunlight. This layered sequence of trees naturally leads one to imagine the roots in the soil.

There are various forms of relaxation. To capture this, we drew the diverse form of relaxation on a long sheet of paper, then folded it while cutting out the openings with scissors. We built MOSP: a place that reflects each individual’s form of relaxation. Openings between these walls act as a vent, making the place a space of relationship without boundaries. “MOSP”, located in Daejeon city, is under the foot of a mountain. Daejeon’s downtown can be seen from the front and Bomunsan Mountain from the back.

During the first field survey, the plan was to understand the overview of the surrounding buildings, but it was canceled. This is because Jeju Island already embodies lots of great emotions: the vibrant blue sea, rough but novel wind, yellow-colored Canola flower fields, black basalt stones, and the sway of the reed field while walking on gentle hills are unique experiences that are different from the daily life on the mainland. With the hope that the building will not disturb these good feelings and harmonize with its natural environment, we've set the course for the great concept of “just being here.”

First, Sejong Metropolitan Autonomous City is a newly developed city around Seoul area. We wanted to provide a place where people can escape from the cold city life to be able to reflect on themselves. We wanted to provide people the opportunity to clear out their tiring daily routine and to experience a time to face themselves through this place. The simple square metal mass exterior and site being located not too close to the living area display ‘refinement.’

Located in suburb, customers of the ilil coffee store are intrigued by what is on trend even when they are rather hesitant to apply the new trend to their lives. Being surrounded by familiarity can make us feel comfortable, but can be dull; newness can give a fresh touch to our lives, but it may provide discomfort. The main theme of this project was to keep the balance between the two and to make the familiar feel unfamiliar and to make the unfamiliar feel familiar. The priority of this project was to find the essence of things; being able to see what can be created out of the essence regardless of what it was made to be.
