This is a project to rebuild the Memuro Town Hall Government Building located in the Tokachi region. Taking advantage of the site that serves as a node between the center of the town (station/shopping district) and public facilities, we created a place for the townspeople inside the government building and aimed to create an open government building that is the core of intimate town development that can be walked around.

This project is a new town hall for Niseko Town, regarded as one of the world’s leading ski resorts. Niseko receives some of the heaviest snowfall in Hokkaido, and measures against snow cornices are a major issue when planning buildings in urban areas. One of the design themes was the pursuit of a cross-sectional shape that can cope with heavy snowfall, together with the integration of the town hall program.

Yubari City, which once prospered as a coal town, was designated as a financial reconstruction organization in 2007. The city, which has been forced to abolish many public facilities, has set up a future image of an "Integrating Compact City" that gathers public facilities in the Shimizusawa area. After discussions with the citizens' Work Shop, a complex facility such as a "small town" that combines a bus terminal, a library / public hall function, a childcare support/children's hall function, and a city hall branch, which will be alternative transportation after the discontinuation of the JR line, will be constructed. It was decided to be done.

In Takasu Town, which is adjacent to Asahikawa City in central Hokkaido, two districts form an urban area as dormitory towns for Asahikawa, and three districts are spread across rural areas. This is a design for rebuilding the Residents Center in the central urban area of Takasu District. While maintaining its function as a public hall for the Takasu District, it was planned to also function as a library that all Takasu residents can use, and to become a new town base where the various generations can interact.

This project involved the remodeling of a church founded 50 years ago. Located in a suburb of Sapporo, the church stands in a residential area near the Olympic Memorial Park, facing a tree-lined avenue. The church runs a kindergarten, with which it shares the site. The lot is not square and has little leeway in terms of space. This remodeling plan required us to maximize the church space in order to achieve openness, while retaining the original functions of the church.

This is a small elementary school with approximately ten students in each grade. A merger with neighboring towns has led to the disappearance of the former name of the town, Asahi. However, the school has a long history, and this project aimed to renew the school building as a symbol of the town for future generations. Our design had to take into account the fact that activities outside of the school buildings are extremely limited in cold, snowy areas and most activities have to be done indoors.

Today, as we confront environmental problems, the Jomon culture is attracting worldwide attention as a model of society from which we can learn. Our design of this center aimed to create a space that produced the Jomon culture.
