Located in Moganshan Town, Zhejiang Province, the site consists of a historic Chinese residence and a courtyard. The residence is a typical five-bay Jiangnan dwelling with an elevated beam structure and double eaves. Before restoration, the building has fallen into disrepair due to long-time negligence. The client wants to convert this 100-year-old residence into a chic, commercial teahouse, while retaining the authentic vibe and craftsmanship of the historic building.

Located on the corner of the ground floor of a newly renovated mixed-use building, the popular draft beer bar found its home in a compact 60-sqm store. The design removes the original glass curtain wall and replaces it with bifold windows that open completely and stack to one end. Together with a veranda in the front and to the side, the bar is no longer bounded by the limited square footage indoors but instead extends to include space outdoor to create an urban living room where young people can gather and enjoy themselves.

Kaiji Teahouse is a young brand that integrates youth culture with traditional Chinese tea culture. The store is located on Nanchang Road in the downtown area of Shanghai. The site of the teahouse, Xiangshan Apartment, is an historical building built in 1933 whose ground floor area is planned as retail space. The site of KAIJI teahouse used to be three separated stores. After partial removement of the partitions, the façade spanning 12 meters is opened to the street. The original decoration was entirely demolished, therefore the original structure which was concealed for almost 90 years was finally revealed.
