Renovation is in essence, a continuous dialogue with what already exists. This conversation responds to both the building itself and the deeper narratives of the site it inhabits. On the northern edge of Lijiang's ancient town, where dense traditional dwellings interlock like teeth, the new structure must negotiate with its neighbors, carving out its own identity within the gaps of property lines and setbacks. The original building was a five-story box: modest in volume, ambiguous in character, but also leaving room for transformation. The renovation strategy is neither an act of confrontation nor erasure, but rather a translation of the wisdom cultivated from the very place.

The "Wu Tong" is located at the entrance part of Shentang Village in Yiwu, consisting of a concrete structure main building and three auxiliary buildings, maintaining a close relationship with the village. As a landmark building, The front Chinese parasol tree Courtyard has witnessed the historical changes in the village for a hundred years and bears the memory of several generations of villagers. The design attempts to establish a way that constantly guides people to establish the relationship between the architecture， the tree yard, and the surrounding landscape when roaming the building. We hope that through this mechanism, we can create the experience of participants and truly weave the spatial memory, buildings, and local landscape into one.

In early 2019, ALL Studio was asked by HUATENG Co., Ltd. to design the exhibition hall of Shiwan town (an ancient town in the south of Wuzhen town) in an agricultural tourism park. In the planning design, the whole park retains the original natural feeling to the greatest extent. When people enter the site from the southwest corner of the park, they can see the plum forest and open grassland surrounded by bamboo fences in the park. Therefore, the design consideration of the exhibition hall building is also defined as a simple and rough temperament in nature from the beginning of the design.
