The school complex in the Karlshorst neighbourhood is situated in an area predominantly characterized by a low-density, small-scale building structure consisting mainly of residential buildings. The new building complex of the Lew Tolstoi School is an independent urban building block that, as residential development continues to densify, will be fully surrounded by it. In this respect, the urban planning approach for the school expansion and sports hall focuses on the building complex itself, with the goal of creating an optimally usable outdoor school space with sports areas.

The Center for Language and Movement serves as a cultural landmark and distinctive address on the Efeuweg campus promenade, a school campus in Berlin's Neukölln district. It mediates between the large-scale public buildings of Gropiusstadt and the small-scale residential development of the surrounding area. The design is based on a variation of the gable form and develops a sculptural, narrative roof landscape – a place of language and movement interpreted spatially.

The Albert Schweizer School is located in a 1970s residential area in the Mainz-Kostheim district. The two-story school building is based on the scale of the heterogeneous, small-scale peripheral settlement structure and formulates differentiated open spaces and views as a formation of three staggered structures. This creates varied outdoor spaces of different characters, which nonetheless serve relaxation, sport, and the educational concept.

As a counter-model to living in the agglomeration of the city, Haus Lindetal reveals itself as a place of retreat in the manageable context of the rural settlement. Not responding to the wish of many builders for homely comfort and the gardener's urge to be active with the response of apartment buildings and allotments is not a new phenomenon; After all, the flight to the country has brought about many facets of residential structures in the last 60 years, from models of urban sprawl to attempts to convert rural properties.
