The "three-compartment, two-wing" house (nhà ba gian, hai chái) is a hallmark of traditional rural architecture in Vietnam. Its name reflects its structure: three central bays (gian), with the middle bay serving as a reception area and ancestral altar, and the two flanking bays functioning as bedrooms or living spaces. On either side of the main hall are two smaller wings (chái), often used as kitchens, storage rooms, or additional sleeping quarters.

A Nostalgic Touch in the Heart of Da Nang – Da Nang is a dynamic, modern city, yet it sits between two of Vietnam's most historic towns: Hue and Hoi An. This contrast between old and new is what inspired the concept behind ThiLa Bistro & Café. Located along the Han River, right in the bustling center of Da Nang, ThiLa Bistro & Café is more than just a restaurant—it's a space that tells a story. We aimed to recreate the essence of traditional Vietnamese architecture, drawing inspiration from the nha ruong houses of Hue and the tube houses of Hoi An. At the same time, we infused modern elements through our use of materials, colors, lighting, and spatial design.

“Café-Cóc” – in Vietnamese, this term refers to a budget-friendly coffee shop with low seating that can be easily folded and set up as needed. It's a place where people can quickly and conveniently drop by, order a drink, sip alone or with friends, and then go about their day.

Hue is the ancient capital of Vietnam, this city still has an ancient appearance and stores many heritages. The downtown area is really narrow, plus the harsh humid tropical climate, which is extremely hot in summer and rainy in winter. Therefore, most of the residential architecture here is still a tube house with a rather boring, old, and safe architectural form.
