The Age of Digitalization began nearly 40 years ago with the rise of information technology. With it came massive changes in the way humans interacted and industries operated — that is, with the exception of the education field. For the longest time, in spite of continuously evolving technologies around us, classroom learning remained the same. A teacher stood addressing students, imparting knowledge through conventional methods of reading, orating, and chalkboard drawing. This has also been true for architecture education so far. But times are changing. Today’s students have grown up with digital technologies around them and therefore can benefit from new learning methods, such as gamification, to challenge their intellects.

In 2020, a group of students from the Architecture for Humanity course at YAcademy– the renowned international school of architecture located in Bologna, Italy – had the opportunity to work with Michele De Lucchi in order to bring arts, beauty and quality into the drab suburbs of Milan.

Through the mountain junction known as the "Nudo de los Pastos," trade, arts, culinary traditions, customs, and ultimately all the elements that nourish the country's rich multicultural variety have permeated the region. Today, the Pan-American Highway serves as the immediate mobility link for thousands of people traveling to and from South America, carrying their productive, emotional, or recreational interests across a territory clearly integrated by a shared landscape in all its dimensions. The city of Pasto is a fascinating and essential stop along this route.

The National Meeting of Architecture Students "ENEA Quito 2022" is an event that, for the third time, seeks to impart and merge knowledge capable of creating, developing, and projecting architecture. It is a week where integration, participation, and academic exchange become the fundamental pillars for analyzing and debating how architecture is practiced in Ecuador, along with alternatives for its professional application.

The course presents an overview of traditional, modern, and contemporary Japanese architectural production across four independent yet complementary modules. Drawing on cultural and historical contexts, the course analyzes the work of prominent Japanese architects from the 1930s to the present day. It also explores symbolic spatial and temporal relationships grounded in aesthetic principles such as ma, basara, wabi-sabi, yûgen, and mono no aware, among others. The goal is to broaden the repertoire regarding Japanese architecture and culture, offering exposure to new perspectives through lecture-based sessions.
