The notion of authenticity is inseparable from theoretical discussions and actions in the field of Conservation and Restoration, and is directly related to the perception of values associated with a given cultural asset—whether tangible or intangible. Authenticity constitutes a foundational and structuring principle of the ethics that sustain and align criteria, concepts, and justifications within the realm of preservation. Like any process of cultural construction, authenticity cannot be understood or defined in absolute, pre-established terms, and its recognition is intrinsically linked to the context to which it refers—at a given time and in a given place.

Today marks the beginning of another phase of work on the building that serves as a symbol of Brazilian Modernism, the Gustavo Capanema Palace, in downtown Rio de Janeiro. This will be the final stage of a series of interventions carried out on the building by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan), ensuring its complete restoration and emphasizing its importance as an architectural icon.

A high-quality public space that prioritizes pedestrians, features organized urban planning, and invites people to stay, enjoy, and socialize. This was the guiding premise of the first phase of the urban revitalization of Rua Grande, in São Luís, the capital of Maranhão. The project began with the restructuring of the entire Deodoro Complex, which now offers visitors and residents a new perspective on the Deodoro and Panteon Squares and the Silva Maia and Gomes de Castro promenades.

Aiming to train graduate professionals from various fields of knowledge over a 24-month period to work in the field of cultural heritage preservation, the Professional Master's Program in Cultural Heritage Preservation of the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan) has launched the call for applications for 10 fellowship positions.
