The Dart House / Spacecraft Architects

Settled lightly in the corner of an erstwhile paddock, the Dart is formed by two narrow wings, one housing the living areas, the other housing bedrooms, connected by a triangular roof. The two blocks shelter a large verandah stretched between them from the ocean winds. This provides a large outdoor living space open to the sun and view, or a generous shelter allowing the house to stay open through a Te Tai Tokerau downpour.

The spectacular NZ$32m Lower Hatea Crossing was officially opened on 27 July 2013 by Whangarei MP Phil Heatley, tribal elders and local dignitaries and featured a traditional powhiri (Maori welcoming ceremony) and celebratory floatilla of boats.

We just received this very interesting project from the Copeland Associates Architects; a new stadium for 3000 spectators at Okara Park in the city in readiness for the Rugby World Cup in 2011. The building, developed between 2008 and 2010, is located in North New Zealand and includes office space for sports and related community bodies, conference areas and reception space.
